God is Allah and He is the only One without any partner, who was not created and has no mother or father. Without Him our lives would be meaningless. We would all die without Him because we were made of nothingness, for He created everything with His power and willed it into existence. We are all dependent on Him for our existence. All praise to Allah, the One, the only One worthy of worship! Quran: He is the All-Knowing, the All-Clement, the Most Merciful. He has sent Muhammad to be His messenger to all of mankind. Allah says in the Holy Quran "We have not sent you (O Muhammad) except as a mercy for all of creation." (21:107) The Holy Prophet Muhammad was born in 570 A . D., about thirteen centuries after Moses, who lived in Egypt during what is known as the golden age of that ancient nation. He was the eighth messenger of God, who came to teach people how to live in accordance with God’s commands, which are known as the Muslim code of worship. The Messenger’s name has become one of the most widely recognized names in the world. It is translated in nearly 100 languages, and his biography appears in dozens of books and hundreds of articles. The Quran traces Muhammad's lineage to ‘Abd Manaf (no relation) who was a cousin of Noah who lived about six hundred years before the birth of Jesus Christ. Muhammad's mother died in his childhood when he was six or seven years old. He was raised by his grandfather, `Abd al-Muttalib. He spent 25 years of his life in Makkah before being called to spread Islam in Medinah at the age of forty. His uncle, Abu Talib who took care of him after the death of his mother died a few years later and Muhammad became a ward of his grandfather, `Abd al- Muttalib. When he became a young man he worked as a shepherd and was known for being trustworthy and honest.
